This class is an awesome way to learn things needed to begin learning classical ballet. Ballet is great for many reasons including the many health benefits it entails. It is also a great activity to help strength your body, and your minds ability to focus on one thing for an extended period of time, while also challenging your body. We will begin with a quick warm up and stretch, and then will go through barre, center, and then a simple across the floor, followed by a cool down stretch. It will be a follow along class, with different fun types of music. This course is great for anyone who would like to learn, no matter your age or experience. It is never to late to learn something new!
I have danced for nearly 11 years of my life, and started when I was 5 years old. I have been dancing at a local company, in the advanced level, where we do winter and spring productions like the classic ballet, The Nutcracker and other ballets as well as Sleeping Beauty, Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and many more. Not only have I been trained in classical ballet which this course will demonstrate, but I have taken other forms of dance including character classes, jazz classes, modern, contemporary, and contemporary ballet. Pointe is also a skill that I am trained in, and have been on pointe for 4
You should wear comfortable clothing whether it is a leotard and tights, yoga pants, or loose sweatpants. You should also have your hair somewhat pulled back enough to keep it out of your face. A clear space for dancing is ideal, but it could also just mean in your living room, including some place that you can hold on to during the lesson, that will act as a barre. If you have ballet shoes, those are the best for dancing in, but also thin socks, or even bare feet on a wooden or tile floor is okay too.
